Not that i know of, mine is set to private as well. All i can think of is if your profile gets hacked or phished and the hacker or whatever uses your info to log in but myspace gets that and locks your profile until you change your password. I've had it happen 3 times and all but one time i changed my password right away, the other time was when that verification code would NOT appear and i couldn't finalize my password change, but eventually i got it changed and things were fixed.
